National Finals Information

PLEASE NOTE: In order for Candance to bring you an amazing event, we must meet certain hotel requirements. So it is mandatory for all competitors to stay at the host hotel. This will allow us to meet all of our requirements.

Workshop classes will be throughout the week, days and faculty will be posted in the New Year!!


The Multi-Media Gala Awards Banquet

All Overall Awards and Cash Scholarships will be awarded at our exciting Awards Banquet. Studios will be assigned tables of 10 for the banquet which will include a full dinner. Children under 12 years old are $45.00. Adult and children 13 & over are $70.00. If you would like to observe awards and not participate in dinner, we will be offering Awards Tickets for $25.00. Please keep in mind, tickets will be first come first serve. We highly recommend purchasing banquet tickets prior to the Nationals to ensure that your studio will all be seated together. Tickets not purchased prior to June 15th are not guaranteed seats with your studio, however, we will try our best to accommodate everyone. Deadline for all banquet tickets, award tickets and workshop bracelets is JUNE 15TH 2013. 

This is a semi formal event and is a wonderful conclusion to our exciting National event! Also, a great time for dancers, teachers and parents to have a fun time together at the end of the season! We will be having guest performances, as well as performances by our title contestants and winners! An event that you will not want to miss!!!


National Title Competition

Opening number featuring all regional title winners
• Scholarships and cash awards
• A percentage of the title holders final score will come from classes in ballet, tap, jazz, acro and modern.
• Special multi-media presentations featuring contestants
• All regional title soloist winners may attend the national competition; this includes 1st runner up and 2nd runner up.


Mandatory to compete at the Title Soloist National Level

Candance will only except a Title entry from the studio director/teacher by downloading  the Title Soloist registration form.You must mail it to the Candance office by June 1st 2013. Please make sure all forms are filled out correctly and please include your payment in (US funds) and colour picture. No exceptions will be made, please do not register by email.


All Dancers must send in a 5X7 colour picture via email in a jpeg file to the Candance office by June 1st 2013. If not, your picture may not appear in our National program.

It is mandatory for all title contestants to stay at the Host Hotel, please book as soon as your regional event is over.

It is also mandatory that all title contestants perform at the banquet in the opening number.

Title Soloists need to arrive July 4th by 9:00am for meeting and rehearsal.


Talent

Dancers will perform a solo that they won with at the regional level, with a costume and not to exceed the time limit of 3 minutes. .

Dancers will not be allowed to rehearse their solos on the stage. Dancers may perform another solo in the regular Performing Arts Competition but it must be a different solo and different style.

Dancers must hand in 2 copies of your music at the first meeting. Your video interview will introduce you and give you time to enter the stage or place props. You must let backstage manager know if you have a prop and where it is to be placed on the stage. There will be NO parents allowed back stage during this evening.


National Title Competition Information



The Opening Number
Dancers must be ready to dance in rehearsal clothes and this is a closed rehearsal to all teachers and parents.

 

Attire for the opening number: dancers will be given a Candance t-shirt and females should have black dance shorts . Males should have black dress pants, black belt. You may be asked to perform barefoot. You will have a stage rehearsal. This will also be performed at the RED CARPET MULTI-MEDIA AWARDS BANQUET! This is MANDATORY for all TITLE SOlOIST to be PRESENT.

Video Interview
This will begin with all Junior's followed by Teens then Senior's. This should be something that you have rehearsed.
This is a short introduction of themselves not to exceed 30 seconds.

Your attire should be dressy and bright. This is closed to all teachers and parents.


Audition Classes
Dancers must know that the BALLET class is mandatory, then dancers will be asked to choose a minimum of 2 out of the 4 classes remaining tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, acro. Only 3 scores will be needed and added to your performance score.

This will begin with the juniors, all dancers should be present at start times. The teens and seniors will follow. We will start with the ballet audition then tap, jazz, modern/contemporary then acro will be last. The judges will be teaching the classes and you will be given a short combo in each subject. Then asked to perform it twice, the judges are looking to see how you perform with style and how well you can follow direction and pick up the choreography. Showing great technique and performance.

Attire for females for audition classes should be black bodysuit or black shorts and tank top.

Ballet audition classes only should wear black bodysuit and pink tights and all appropriate shoes, hair in a bun. Males must wear black pants or shorts, white or black t-shirt or tank top. Hair should be neat.

AWARDS

NEW! Titles will be crowned at the awards banquet.


Dancers will practice the awards presentation at your first rehearsal. Dancers must wear formal attire (no jeans)for these awards, NO COSTUMES.

We will be giving out awards for top score in each of the 5 audition classes.
We ask all dancers to be on time for all events and please adhere to all requirements.

Workshop and Convention Class Info

Workshop and Convention class bracelet for unlimited classes will be $150.00. There will be a minimum of 12 classes offered for each level. Junior ( 12 & under) and Senior (13 & over). Workshop Classes will be taught by many professional teachers and judges!

If you do not wish to purchase the unlimited class card, you may purchase single class cards, $25 for workshop classes.

Unlimited Observer bracelets for Parents Only will be available for $25…This will allow parents to observe all classes. We will not be offering a pass for parents to observe per class. Young children under the age of 12 will receive a free observer bracelet when purchased with a parent observer bracelet. No dancers or teachers may purchase observer bracelets.

All registered teachers with studios will receive a free teacher's bracelet. Non Registered Teacher's unlimited bracelet will be $200.00.
